Hello! I’m Cecilia, a textile artist creating in Nashville.

I grew up exploring creativity in many forms and dreamt of becoming an artist as a child. From jewelry making and cross stitch to fashion sketches and graphite portraits, I tried my hand at many creative outlets, but the one that captured my heart the most was making music. Passion and practice led me to one of America’s leading conservatories where I trained as a classical musician in the hopes of obtaining a degree in music performance. Although my career path ultimately didn’t end in music, I learned invaluable lessons from that journey about myself and the power and value of the arts to connect us to ourselves and each other through beauty.

It wasn’t until 2021 that I discovered modern hand embroidery. The variety of textures captivated me, and I felt inspired by the way that traditional crafts were being used in a contemporary way. I quickly fell in love with the tactile feeling of hand stitching and its slow, contemplative nature, which is both therapeutic and humbling! I am always learning new things about embroidery and place a high value on making things with great technique and excellence, a mindset and value I carry over from my training as a musician.

Although my medium has changed from music to stitching, my goal remains the same. I believe that beauty reminds us of the good in the world, so it is my mission to create art that connects the viewer to a core sense of wonder and hope through beautiful and intentional abstract images. I find myself most inspired by the quiet, intangible gifts of life, which I communicate symbolically through carefully chosen forms, colors, and textures. The end result is full of purpose and story to uplift the viewer.

When I’m not embroidering, you can still find me working with my hands sewing garments and knitting with my cute studio cat, Macaron, nearby. My husband and I also enjoy traveling internationally and exploring the outdoors at our national parks, which are an endless inspiration of wonder, texture, and color.
