"Improvisation 4" Framed Embroidered Watercolor Art, 11 x 13 inches

$100.00

Full of spontaneity and freedom, each of the pieces in the Closer to Jazz series is a true improvisation. Before I came an artist, I was studying and training to be a classical musician, but part of me wished that I had studied jazz instead. The exactness of classical music felt safe, but I wanted the ability to let go and play off the page.

This series of work felt like that, an intentionally unplanned work of the moment, from my heart to the page. Using the vibrant colors of cedars on the coast of Olympic National Park, I focused on letting go of what I thought might be imperfections and embraced the beauty of what came out.

Painted on 140lb (330g) cold-pressed watercolor paper and embellished with cotton thread, this piece is sold framed.
