In the countryside of England, I sat on a bench looking out over the dales in rapt attention and delight at the beauty in front me. Small, agile birds called swifts swept quickly over my shoulder into my line of sight and flew across the landscape. While I watched them dance across my vision, I remembered words someone told me the year before as they looked at my life. Words that came while I still worked in an office, before I stepped into full time art, “You’re about to come out of the cocoon and fly free.”
